ILLUMINATION STATION VBS 2026
Join the team as we welcome children to VBS this summer! It will be an absolute blast helping our kids understand that Jesus is the light who brings hope to a dark world. We will be playing games, making crafts, singing, and learning more about who Jesus is! You won't be able to keep the smile off your face all week!
You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer independently for VBS. Students aged 11-15 years old may serve as a youth volunteer.
For all positions aside from Set Up and Tear Down background check will be required (for those over age 18) and there will be a mandatory in-person training that will take place at (location TBD) on (date TBD). We will start as a large group to go over the schedule and expectations before breaking into teams to make sure everyone is ready for their roles at VBS.
Sign up now! If you have any questions, please contact Maria Twedten at maria@twedten.com.
Position Descriptions:
Set-Up
This team will meet late afternoon on the Sunday before VBS to get decorations set up, rooms arranged, and materials all ready for kids who will be coming to VBS.
Check-In / Float
This team will welcome families as they arrive and assist them with checking in and finding their group. During the morning, they will float and step in where needed whether that be assisting with games or crafts, or helping a crew who needs an extra hand. This team will also help families get children checked out at the end of the morning.
Security / First Aid
This team will make sure all our children are kept safe by keeping an eye on doors, verifying the identity of any person who comes to the building, and administering basic first aid (bandaids, ice packs, etc.).
Childcare
This team will take care of children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years while their parents are busy volunteering in other areas of the VBS program.
Small Group Co-Leaders
This team will be the main point person for a small group of 8-12 children each day. You, along with your co-leader, will help your group transition from one rotation to the next, keeping everyone together. You will not be teaching a lesson, but will be encouraged to engage with children and ask questions about what they are learning throughout their morning.
Buddies
The people on this team will work one-on-one with a child who needs extra support in order to be able to participate in VBS.
Youth Assistants
Students entering 6th grade up until age 16 can volunteer alongside adults. They will be supporting small groups, helping with rotations, or caring for our youngest in the nursery during the morning. You will also be encouraged to help out with singing and motions up on stage during our large group rally.
Worship Rally
This high energy team will put on skits and lead children in learning songs and actions during the worship rally and closing rally that happen at the beginning and end of VBS each morning.
Tech Team
You will be behind the scenes helping with everything tech (sound, slides, etc.) during our large group rally at the beginning and end of VBS each morning.
Recreation Assistant
This team will be lead by Anna Schuett. You will assist in leading children to participate in pre-planned games that reinforce the daily lesson.
Craft Assistant
This team will be lead by Megan Mattson. You will assist children with pre-planned craft activities that reinforce the daily lesson.
Mission Assistant
This team will be lead by Pastor Emma from Park Harbor Church. You will assist children as they explore how they can be a light in this world.
Snack Assistant
You will help with preparing and handing out snacks to students when they come to the Bible study rotation.
Tear Down / Clean Up
This team will be responsible for getting all materials loaded up and put away as well as cleaning the spaces used during our week of VBS. We will meet the evening of Thursday, August 6th.
